Our products and services allow our customers to integrate weather intelligence to their existing operations to create their own weather solutions, either by working with us to build a solution or with their own developers.

TrueWeather - Data Services and API
An easy to use web service interface to access the TrueWeather infrastructure to query historical and real time weather data and forecasts, for use in your own applications and services. Our data comes from a range of local and international data providers, as well as data provided by our own forecast model and weather stations.
For use in GIS, we have coded examples to help you display weather data directly into command and control applications. For big data – correlate our historic weather data with your historic sales or consumption data and use the results to improve your business forecasting and trigger points based on forecast weather conditions.
Fixed weather stations
Often, our customers have a requirement to significantly improve their local collection of weather data for both historic and real time purposes. We use the Lufft weather stations sensors then add features to meet our requirements for control, communications and power. Control and communications are managed by a solid state controller using proprietary MetTrigger software. Communications are generally over wifi or cellular radio. All control and communications equipment will be housed in an IP65 rated control box. Power is supplied by either mains power or solar coupled with a very long life battery to minimise long term maintenance requirements. Observation data is then available through any of the MetTrigger apps or API’s. Keeping it simple!

Winter Road Maintenance
Downer sought to improve its in vehicle access to real time weather data for its road maintenance staff, beginning with the laying of salt and grit during freezing conditions. The estimated cost savings from making more accurate decisions on when to lay salt and grit were very substantial. The solution required us to integrate real-time weather data and forecasts with observations of road surface temperature, OAT, and dew-point collected by mobile weather stations, display this blended data in real time in the vehicle in a manner that gave the operator the best information possible for the making a decision.

Big Data analysis and correlation of weather data provides incredibly valuable commercial insights. Do sales of a particular line item increase during high or low temperatures, or rain? Do sales or inquiries change based upon temperature, humidity, or sunlight levels? , Do we have more power outages in “x” area if the weather comes from the north, and at what wind (gust) levels? What impact does weather have on public transport usage? What impact does weather (and what type of weather) have on transport times? Answering historic questions by correlating multiple data sources and adding weather overlays allows enterprises to understand the effect weather conditions have on operational issues, sales, and marketing activities.

Mobile weather stations
For clients that require a mobile weather station solution, our selected in vehicle solution has an exceptional rate of real time data acquisition and is simple to install. It has been well tested in winter and summer conditions in extreme continental weather environments. The sensors capture road surface temperature, barometric pressure, light intensity and OAT. The data is time stamped and geo-referenced derived values are calculated, including dew point. A Bluetooth interface allows the sensors to be accessed wirelessly from an Android tablet. Communication of the sensor data to our TrueWeather server environment is handled by the cellular connection in the tablet, or an external cellular hotspot in situations where the vehicle is operating in marginal cellular coverage.
